Navigating borders and cultures while exploring your identity can be overwhelming. The Queers Are Thriving offers a specialized coaching journey for those tired of being the “educator” in the room. It is a space designed for depth and cultural safety where you don’t have to translate your soul.
This space is for Queer individuals (18+) living in Den Haag with a migrant or bicultural background.
You do not need a medical diagnosis or specific legal papers to apply.
Asylum seekers and undocumented individuals are all welcome.
We help you navigate intersectional challenges, including:
⋅Navigating the feeling of being “too much” for one culture and “not enough” for another.
⋅Learning to handle pressure and set boundaries with family or society while staying true to yourself.
⋅Unpacking “I should…” or “I must…” to find self-acceptance.
⋅Finding your voice to advocate for yourself and build healthier relationships.
We use exploration questions and creative exercises, such as writing challenges, to process what words cannot.
⋅Sessions: You receive an average of nine one-on-one sessions, each lasting one hour.
⋅Language: You can speak freely in English or Arabic. All intake forms and consent agreements are also available in Arabic.
The coaching service is free. Gemeente Den Haag funds us specifically to remove financial barriers to mental well-being.
Absolutely. We are an independent NGO with no connection to the IND, COA, or asylum procedures.
Your participation is strictly confidential and has zero impact on your legal status.
Organizations play a key role in creating safe spaces for queer individuals with migrant or bicultural backgrounds. You can support this mission through:
⋅Referring individuals who could benefit from culturally safe coaching.
⋅Partner with us on workshops or community activities to strengthen support networks.
⋅Helping us reach more people through your professional networks and platforms.
⋅Providing financial support to help us expand our reach.

The coaching process helped me work on my perfectionism and imposter feelings. The coach contributed significantly to addressing these issues by helping me understand how to support myself better, which improved my confidence and overall performance. Personally, I really appreciated the space and the way the coach facilitated the sessions.
Sam
My experience with Sammy as a coach was incredibly helpful. Through our sessions, I was able to understand where my emotions came from, which made it easier to identify what was missing in my life and what I needed to feel at peace. I would advise others to be open during their sessions and not let shame prevent them from expressing their feelings and healing themselves. Working with Sammy truly made a difference for me.

The most I enjoyed working with you as a coach would be the fact that you're also queer and trans identifying which made me feel a lot more comfortable to talk about my issues. Coaching has helped me make and uphold routines and to really focus on things that bring me joy in life. Your coaching did help me on my way to handle my depression and I will forever appreciate you and your work. To anyone considering working with you I'd say go for it! Sammy is an amazing person, a lot of personal experiences that make you feel more seen and understood. And I think he has some great ideas on how to improve your life and goals in life.
Marcel
I would like to say that coaching and simply communicating with you help me find ways to understand myself. Your approach is very delicate, professional, and clear. Personally, based on my feelings, even after just a few sessions, I already feel an increase in awareness.
